Backplane with only line A connected
Hello everyone, I have a DELL R740 server with 16x2.5 backplane .. I am using a PERC HBA330 PCI controller with 8x2.5 backplane cable .. I can only connect one line to the backplane, in my case I connected line A leaving B disconnected. Obviously, when turned on, the system reported an error that line B was disconnected. I am using 5 hard drives and the ESXi system sees them all correctly. What Problems Could I Have? I am in a TEST environment and not in production, in production I will go to buy the correct cable for my backplane

This is not a supported configuration. As this is not supported it is not tested and we can not guarantee that it will work and no issues will be seen. As this is test environment and you able to see all 5 drives I believe it will continue to work as it is. You may see error messages on iDRAC and other places about misconfiguration and server health may be show as non optimal
