Creating an additional RAID 1 array on a PERC H730 controller
I have a Dell Poweredge T430 with two RAID 1 arrays. I want to add two 10 TB HDDs and create a n additional array to use for data storage. I do not want to lose the bootable O/S, Server 2012 R2 Standard, nor the data that is contained within the existing arrays. When using the Life Cycle Controller wizard, it appears that it will kill the existing arrays if I try to add the new drives. What should I do?

Ramcorp,
Creating a new Virtual Disk should not affect the OS Virtual Disk at all, what exactly are you seeing, any errors or such?
Let me know.

Hello and thank you for responding. I presently have a Poweredge T430 configured from the factory with a 480GB SSD RAID 1 array containing the O/S, Server 2016 Stadard, and a second 4 TB RAID 1 array containing data. The 4 TB array is almost full. I have installed two 10 TB Dell SAS enterprise HDDs and would like to create another RAID 1 array with these drives and move all of the data to the larger array. I would leave the 4 TB array as backup. When I start the Lifecycle controller and go to hardware RAID configuration, I receive a message that all information on the existing array(s) will be deleted. I may be interpreting this incorrectly but at that point I stop. I never get to the point of identifying the drives from which I wish to create the array. I am unsure as to what my next steps should be. Please advise.

When you access the controller, what are you doing from there, what are you selecting?

Hi, i know this might be a bit to late but here goes:
When you use the wizard to add new drive to RAID it WILL remove all other RAID configurations and would you not be able to start your server software.
You have to go to the settings tab, find the PERC RAID controller, go into that directly and then go and add the new drives / virtual drive configurations.
I will try and get some screenshots to add

You can do this the easy way - from the OS. Do you have OpenManage Server Administrator (managed node) installed? If not, install it - you should have it on there anyway. Then go to Storage, PERC, Virtual Disks, Add Virtual Disk and follow the prompts.
