Dell H310 Perc Raid controller not seing Physical Drives

Hi, I have a Dell Precision T7400 that I am trying to install and configure the H310 PERC Raid controller.  The controller is not seing any of the physical drives.  I have (1)120 SSD, and 2 WD red 6 TB drives attached.  I have verified that all drives are functional.  I have tried 2 different cables.  We have updated the firmware on the motherboard and the PERC card.  You can access the configuration software where it does not see any physical drives.  Any ideas as to why the card does not see the drives?

Well, you have a few things potentially working against you here:

  • Non-certified drives are not guaranteed to work on any Dell controller. (Reds are intended only for NAS, not for enterprise RAID - typically these should not be used on any PERC.)
  • The H310 is not guaranteed to work in a T7400 (only PERC 6, SAS 6 are supported).

I'm assuming you have the drives connected directly to the card and you have power connected to the drives ...

Yes, the drives are connected directly to the card and there is power to the drives.  I ordered the card so that I could get the faster thruput and have larger drives than 2 TB.  Is there any work around?

We also tried a non SAS 2T drive and it did not see that drive either.
