Hello, so with Error e1000,  you take out the RAID controller and the disk for the data safety, it should be fine, I think. Let us know if you have any further questions.

So it looks like my raid controller is a SAS 6IR internal raid. Can I move those drives to an r510 with H700?

appreciate the fast response. Unfortunately, they have no backup of this particular system, they did not realize they were even using it. Would it make more sense to pick up another r410 with the same raid controller? I have found some for sale or is that process similar and risky? Also the server that has failed has the failsafe e1000 error and will not stay on long enough for me to figure out what is causing the issue so just figured moving would be easier?

Hello Taylordude4493,

You should be able to import the drives from the SAS6/ir to an H700.

I would recommend you confirm you have a valid backup as the controller migration could have problems.

Take a look at these threads for their experience:

If you can get like hardware that should make it easier for you.

Okay, just ordered a duplicate model, very similar with the same controller. Thank you

Another quick question. When I replace my raid controller and import config and it fails does that wipeout the config or does it simply mean that import failed until I fix the issue. Reason I ask is because I think the raid card I got has a bad 512 memory card.

Is the old config stored on the main card or the 512 Memory card?

Hello Taylordude4493,

A failed import does not make any changes to the configuration on disk.

If there was corruption or failing disks that could be why it did not import.

Did you get a valid backup?

You may try run diagnostics:

Reboot Press F10 in top right corner. Once the USC loads, select ‘Hardware Diagnostics’ in the left side and click ‘Run Diags’ in the body.

When the next page loads there will be 2 test available to run:

Run the 'Run Diags' select 'Express Test'.
