Dell SAS 6/iR - max RAID 1 arrays?
I can't seem to find a clear answer in the docs. Can anyone confirm for me the maximum number of RAID 1 arrays that the SAS 6/iR controller will allow? This is in a PE R710 server.
I have 6x3.5 drive bays with only 2 filled and want to add some drives. I'm hoping to get 3x RAID 1 arrays running but I want to make sure the controller will do 3 separate arrays before I order the hardware.

The SAS 6/iR supports TWO VD's (Virtual Disks):

If it helps ... the SAS 6/iR also supports non-RAID/JBOD when drives are not configured in a VD, so you may be able to still use all the disks, but the last two just wouldn't be in a RAID array (and could be mirrored in the OS or left as individual drives).

Cool - yeah, that does help. I think I can work with that on the last set. Thanks again!
