Dell t20 raid HDD replace and upgrage
Hello.
I have T20 with traditional HDD the are 8 years old and need replace (i got warning from RST software)
in this case i would like replace for modern SSD, but without reinstall a system.
Old disk are 1TB and working in Raid1 array (480GB in use). New SSD are 940GB (for replace)
what I Do:
1) unplug one old HDD -> connect an new SSD
2) reboot then when start CRL+I i, so don't have option rebuild array with a new SSD (the are visible but as "not RAID member")
3) in RST software tha are visible also, i can do new disk as "spare" bot nothing happens.....
4) in RST software i can do: "restore in new disk" but also nothing happens (only warning that all date form new disk will be removed)
What i can do for replace in new SSD disk ?
Many thanks for all answer.

Yes. You need to create another virtual disk with SSD drives and copy the data from first virtual disk to new virtual disk. I never tried virtual disk cloning hence I will not be able comment on that

In a virtual disk you can not replace HDD with SSD. Replaced drive need to be same type and family of existing drives.

Thank You for answer.
Does mean that I need create second raid array from ssd drives, and clone disk form old array to new array?, that correct ? It will be working?
