Do I need to replace the RAID cache RAM periodically?
I have a PE2850 with PERC 4e/Di RAID card. One day the server couldn't boot up and show RAID cache RAM error. Replaced it and everything just fine. I'd like to know: How long does the cache RAM module last? Do I need to replace it periodically?

No. This is just like other computer components, including system memory/RAM, and is subject to the same failure threshold - replacement necessary only when bad. You can help eliminate problems by making sure the riser is securely seated, the power to the server is clean and uninterrupted, and that the system firmware (BIOS, ESM, RAID) is up to date.
