Firmware update is not sticking

I have 2 Seagate 450gb drives (model ST3450857SS) in a PowerEdge 2950 server running Windows 2008 R2 with a PERC5 raid card.  The 2 drives are in a Raid 1 configuration and are in an optimal state.  I run the update package Drive_Firmware_V38WK_WN32_ES68_A07.EXE to attempt to update the firmware on the drives from ES02 to ES68.  I get "The update completed successfully" message and reboot.  Unfortunately the drives are still at version ES02.  What am i doing wrong?
