Get "Started unit failed" problem.
I bought one used PowerEdge last week. I try to install and turn on it. I get a serious problem as:
SCSI IDL LUN NUMBER #:# 0:0 Started unit failed.
And I go into SCSI utility,I get the message as below:
Target SCSI ID: 0
SCSI CDB Sent: 03 00 00 00 0E 00 70 00 02 00
Host Adapter Status: 00h no host adapter Error
Target Status: 02h -Check condition
Sense Key: 02h -Not ready
+sense code: 04h
+sense code qualifier: 02
And it looks like SCSI could regonized the harddisk as:
SCSI ID #0: SEAGATE ST19171W
Do anybody help me to fix it?

Hi,
The errors indicate the hard drive is not starting. I would recommend removing, inspecting and reseating the Scsi and power cable(s) on each hard drive or backplane (If installed). If you do have the backplane, reseat the hard drives also.

I have take out backplan and power connector. But, it still happen. I try to use the CD-ROM SCSI and power connector because the CD-ROM is good. But, it still get the "Started unit failed". Any suggestions? Or, what I need to try?

Hi Alfred,
These troubleshooting steps indicate the hard drive is defective and will need to be replaced. Do you have another Scsi hard drive to test with?
