Help with raid controller for PowerEdge r620
I'm suffering from what seems to be a very common problem. I got a server without drives, put in two certified dell HD's and they aren't recognized with the error PD1024 drive mismatch please insert correct drive type.
I opened up the machine and there is nothing in the socket for the raid controller.
I need to know which controller and cable to buy.
I can provide my Service Tag if that will help.

Can you let us know what backplane do you have? https://dell.to/3ICZ0Ox. Also, could you let us know how is the backplane connected now, maybe a few clear pictures.

So it sounds like your current setup is using the onboard S110 raid controller. Basically you'll be looking at two different raid controller modules. The H310 which is the lower end hardware controller, the part number will be K09CJ. The H710 will be the higher end hardware raid controller with a part number of TY8F9.
You will also need a new cable as your current cable is likely going directly to the onboard S110 controller port which won't work with these controllers.
If you have a 10 bay system you'll be looking for YRTCY, 8 bay will be TK2VY and 4 bay will be 0HHYJ.
