How to configure raid 1 in PowerEdge T320
Hello all,
I want to install Raid 1 on server T320, but i don't know how?
I try some steps before by ctrl+ R and make VD, then add the two HDD(1 Tera for each) to the VD.
After that i install windows server 2012, and i see only one hard with one drive (1 tera).
How to know that raid 1 is installed and working properly?
If you can help with steps to installing and screen shots if available will be nice.
Thank you all .

Sounds like it is working fine. With hardware RAID, the controller groups the physical disks together into an array and creates a "logical" or "virtual" disk. It is ONLY that virtual disk that the OS sees, NOT the individual physical disks. You can install OMSA (OpenManage Server Administrator) to monitor and manage RAID, including the individual physical disks, but if otherwise, if you want to test the RAID, pull a drive while the OS is running. If the OS crashes, it's not working. If it stays up and running, then it is working. I would recommend the OMSA route.

Thank you for replay.
I think that if i shut down my server and run it again with only one HDD, it should work properly and i can see the data saved, am i right?

Yes.
HOWEVER (1) ... If your drives are hot-swappable (meaning, they are accessible from the front of the system), you should NEVER shutdown your server to remove or replace hot-swap drives.
HOWEVER (2) ... It is MUCH better to simply use the OpenManage software:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-t320?driverId=CWHRG&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3267736217&languageCode=en&categoryId=SM
Download and run to extract, then run C:\Openmanage\windows\setup.exe.

Now I understand that OpenManage software will be setup in the windows server 2012, and after that launch it on the windows also to give me information about the server, right?

When you remove one drive, Windows will run on the other. BEFORE you can boot Windows on the other disk, you must first take care of the RAID array.
1. You must put the disk back in and rebuild it before removing the other one.
or
2. You must power off, remove the "good" disk, put in the "bad" disk, then import its foreign configuration.

In testing raid, i have try to remove on drive and then try to boot windows, but it work with one drive and the other can't open windows.
Just one drive can open window and the other one can't.
Is it mean that raid not installed properly? and if so how to fix it?

Hi mebeed
When you plugged back the hdd while the server is on, the rebuild process should kick start automatically. Check in OMSA, the hdd status should be rebuilding. And once the virtual disk status in OMSA is optimal and both hdd are online, then you can do your testing raid.
Quote "I can't find this option it's disabled."
How do you know it is disabled when you can't even find this option? Anyway, here's a raid controller card manual, refer to Page 44 on how to import foreign:- ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/Common/poweredge-rc-h710_User's%20Guide_en-us.pdf
Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for replay.
No after rebuild both HDD are online and windows run good, also i install OMSA and show green tick that mean is RAID 1 installing right?
Another question please, if i want to test by unplug one HDD while the server is working is it ok?
And after that i can insert that HDD while the erver working also?
Because before that i unplug the HDD after turn off the server so it was shown as missing HDD.

From OMSA if you can see the Virtual Disk is Ready state with green tick and the Physical Disks are in Online state with green tick. They are all good.
Yes, you can remove 1 hdd and test the raid. But make sure it is back to the good state before you test the other hdd.
Hope this helps.
Here's an example:
