Maximum storage capacity for Dell PE-R720

Question

Hello I have a Power Edge R720 Rack Server- I Know it's OLD, but we bought it in 2014 and it was in Boxes not opened till now for some reasons not related to this post. And it will Cover Our Needs since we will only use it as NAS Specs: CPU: 2 Sockets CPU- Xeon E2650 v2 - 16Core / 32Thread Ram: 32GB DDr3 (8Gx4) HD: 8x2.5' bays (4x300 SAS 2.5'  came as default setup) 7 PCI Slots (Not used) Raid Controller: PERC h710 mini Bios version: updated to the latest v2.9.0 (09 Jan 2020) iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller v. 2.65.65.65 (16 Mar 2020) So, As I said before, we will use it as NAS, No VMS ( So it's more than enough for our usage ) and the big question here is, What's the Maximum storage Capacity it can have based on your experience/usage since server manuals that were created in 201-2015 didn't cover the new HD types/capacity Since the server supports 8x2.5' HD, i will buy 8 HDs and i wanna know : 8x2TB HDD SATA (2.5inch) will work?  8x4TB HDD SATA (2.5inch) will work? 8x2TB SSD SATA (2.5inch) will work? 8x4TB SSD SATA (2.5inch) will work? So please if you will answer, use this list and put your feedback on each of them Thanks

Hi, thanks for choosing Dell. It's best you update H/W  firmware first. you can use all the disks you mentioned.
