Expected behavior, you must get a 3rd party utility such as Acronis or Dell have one they do not support :s called extpart, however you must call to get a tech give it to you.
Does Powerquest (now Symantec) VolumeManager 2.0 work??
I plan to do an upgrade from 5 x 36Gb drives to 5 x 300Gb drives so want to make sure whatever tool I use can handle the much larger sizes for partitions.
This is for a Poweredge 2650, PERC3/Di running Windows 2000 Server SP4.
I looked up the Acronis tool which is $400! Ouch!
Are there any estimations anyone has for resize times/chkdsk post expansion for this scenario?
Dell told me the drive swap routine was not supported and could lead to parity problems with the array.
I now plan to use Acronis to image my array/partitions and then restore to the new larger array utilising Drive Image's options to change partition sizes on restoration.
I had hoped the drive swap would be a supported solution but cannot risk parity issues on the RAID array.
I would be interested in peoples experiences with this type of upgrade scenario to see if it is indeed successful or not!!

I would try the dell utility, I have used before and works fine, they provide a nice documentation with it as well, I don't seem to find it now.
