PE 6300 Perc 2 controller replacment 44TXF Compatability?

Ok, lets try this again with out the service tag...

I purchased a used 6300 off of ebay and was setting up a sharepoint site with it for my kids lego team at school.

The perc2 controller went down on a battery fault. I had a couple other perc2 controllers, and got system running on one of them.

Problem is that the two I had, the batteries looked worse than the one I put in the server originally. I am thinking I am going to have the same problem very shortly.

I was looking for a page that showed how to do a solder replacement and what batteries to by to do the replacement my self, but did not find anything. Does anyone know?

Also I was looking on ebay for additional controllers, and found a 44TXF perc2 controller, that appears to be a later design, with a replaceable battery pack.

This looks like a good solution to the problem, but is the 44TXF compatible with the 6300? I found a site that said it was compatible with a 6400.

OS is 2003 SBS

Hi tr6scott,

Ok the 44TXF is a PERC 2/DC controller, you will need to have the DIMM that comes with it, there are two versions P/N 19095 64 M/B DIMM, and P/N 98GNJ the 128 M/B DIMM.

It will fit physically, it has the blue plastic extender that adds 2-3 inches to the card length so it will engage with the card guides in the PE(6300/6350/6400/6450/4300/4350/4400) It uses different drivers from the PERC 2 (Adaptec quad channel) that you have, and you should get the driver from the PE6400 page in the file library. If you were using FAST to manage the array, that will not work with the PERC 2/DC, in fact you'll have to recreate the array and reinstall the
O/S to use this card, unless you had installed on a single hard drive in which case you can import the foreign disk as a RAID 0.

Getting batteries for your perc 2 controller check out this link
