Sorry about listing just SATA, the SAS version is part # 06VJ7.
As far as documentation, we don't have a specific list of part numbers to share, I assume this is because that list would be changing daily and would be hard to keep current and accurate.
I am not showing that drive, but that doesn't mean it isn't compatible. So I can't 100% confirm it. I can confirm that the SED drives are compatible in the R730, as long as you're using the H730P, as the H730 doesn't support them. If you are looking for supported SSD SED's you can use 5V299 or 64TMJ.
Thanks a lot for the feedback Chris. Do you know if there is there any documentation form Dell available listing the supported / approved SED drives for my hardware configuration?
And thank you also for the recommended drives - those are however SSD SATA and I require SSD SAS - so the documentation would come in handy.
I just don't want to risk purchasing the disks I am currently looking at (ST400FM0343) and then they don't work for whatever reason. Do you perhaps know if there are any type of drive model number validation performed by die RAID controller software? I am just asking to try and gauge the risk with proceeding with purchasing the above mentioned model.
Any Dell documentation will only ever reference Dell (re-)branded drives, their Dell part number and maybe (if you're lucky) it might list a manufacturer's part number/model.
So, unless you have a Dell part numbered drive, don't count on finding any documentation specifically coming out saying that the SED part is supported on the PERC H730P in your (Dell PowerEdge) server.
Do you have any knowledge of such a document? Event if its references just Dell part numbers, at least I am then assured of purchasing drives that will definitely function as expected.

Let me know if this helps.
