I have two PE2650, set up RAID 5 via PERC3/Di. Tried installing Ubuntu 18.04 Minimal ISO (since this is the version that will fit in a CD). I learnt that after creating RAID, I need to wait until the drives are completely CLEARed, then only will the drive be detected during installation.
However. I'm stumped when the installation reaches the GRUB bootloader installation stage and fails. Everything prior in the setting up is pretty much defaults.
How do I go about this? Are there any settings I should change in the BIOS? If I boot via the CD into CLI , what should I type to manually install GRUB? Sorry I'm a noob when it comes to shells.

Hi,
Unfortunately Ubuntu does not have the proper driver for PE2650 to install the OS. https://dell.to/3dYnmBY
For supported OS, you can refer to the Dell support page: https://dell.to/3uExQNR;

Thanks for the swift reply.
I created a single disk SCSI container (no RAID), installed Ubuntu onto it and it worked!
Apparently the GRUB bootloader does not like the RAID5 I made.
As this is just a practice server for me, I'm not very concerned about data integrity issues at the moment.
If I ever find a workaround for installing GRUB bootloader on RAID5 created via PERC 3/Di, I'll post my solution here.
