Perc 6/i on Dell PowerEdge 2970

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2970 with a Perc 6/i

The Backplane has 8 bays.

Currently I have 1 RAID 5 Array consisting of 3 physical disks.  I know I can add a 4th physical disk to the RAID 5 array.

My question is that instead of adding 1 physical disk can I add 3 physical disks to the same physical RAID 5 array and Perc 6/i connector 0?   If yes, then do I need a connector expander to do this?

Hi,

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your intention. Are you trying to replace all the existing disk with probably a larger size, and expand the RAID, correct? You can expand the existing RAID5 with another disk, but not replacing all of the disk with larger capacity to extend the array. Not on PERC6i.

You will need to recreate RAID5.

Let me know if I'm understanding you correctly.
