Perc6/i Integrated - Invalid SAS Address

Hi all,

First post here..i have the folloing message :

"Invalid SAS Address present in MFC Data. Please program valid SAS Address and restart your system"

with megacli -adpallinfo -a0 i get (shown only info that are not correct) :

Serial  No :                        (null)

.....

Mfg. Date : 00/00/00

Rework Date :00/00/00

.....

SubvendorId : 0000

SubdeviceId : 0000

...

SAS Address : 0

....

RAID Level Supported : RAID0, RAID1, RAID5, RAID10, RAID50, SRL3 supported        (No Raid6&60, No PRL11 & PRL11with spanning)

What is the problem and could a FW flash solve this (i think MFC data are kept untouched when flashing)?

Thank you in advance

In BIOS (Ctrl-R) the FW Version is 6.0.1-0080. See following picture :

The error i receive in boot is the following :

When i enter megacli -adpallinfo -a0 i get the following screens :

I hope you can make the big picture about the condition of the controller. Any info is welcome!

Thank you for your response M@l

Regards,

George

Streamlined,

Do you see any version of the firmware being presented to you?

If everything is showing up with a zero output then a reflash should be tried.

MFC holds the firmware settings of the controller.

George,

It looks like the controller is on the earliest firmware available and could even be on a factory bios setting (LSI MegaRaid SAS-MFI Bios).

The latest firmware is A11 and you are on A01.

I would recommend updating to the latest as there are at least 3 updates available in between which have numerous fixes included.

Make sure to update your operating system driver first before the firmware.

So , you say that all data missing will be back when i update on latest FW ?

What about the RAID modes missing  from Info ?

Thank you

All your settings have been deleted (SubvendorId, SubdeviceId), Dell tools will not be able to help you.

There is no way to identify this is a PERC 6 controller SubvendorId=0000, SubdeviceId=0000

One of your pics shows

Product Name: MegaRAID SAS PCI Express(TM) ROMB

Not PERC 6.

FW flash will fail because it is for a PERC 6 controller not this unidentified device.  Try AdpFacDefSet (that may load some settings), but you will need to load all the settings again, megacli can do that for LSI cards, it may work with this controller, check the help file.  But, megacli can also transform your controller into a brick . . .

Hello,

most of the time to solve this issue we need to replace PERC controller.

If you want to have a support on TTY logs analysis I suggest to contact technical support for a support quote.

Thanks

Marco
