PowerEdge 2850 Raid Controller Problems
Hi to all,
I had like other people the message "memory/battery problems were detected".
First I try to change the memory but I got the wrong one, so in the startup, it asks me if I wanna run through SCSI because my memory is not compatible, so I said yes, because my server is critical for me.
But know I found a good memory and also a good battery, so I want to good back to raid boot configuration, but I don't know how to it.
Do I have to be in the BIOS, "integrated device = raid ?"
Does is it mean that I will lose data ? because when I put this setting, when it boots, it says that I may loss data.
Config : 6 disks (3 mirrored)
PS : I can't do a "Control-M" on the startup, it is not displayed anymore..
Please help me !
Regards,
Baptiste

Bbuniazet,
With replacing the ROMB battery and dimm all you should need to do is power down the server and then remove the power cable. Then press the power button for 10 seconds to drain the flea power. Once you have done that then simply remove the battery and then the dimm. Then install the new dimm and then the battery. Be sure to install them in that order, because if there is any charge on the battery then when you place the dimm in afterwards it is a hot (powered) slot and can damage the dimm. So be sure to install the dimm with the battery out of the server.
In regards to the BIOS, and no longer seeing CTRL-M, it sounds like you disabled the Raid controller under Integrated Device. If so then enable that once you replace the dimm and battery. Upon exiting the BIOS the server should boot normally.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi Chris,
I changed the intergrated device into "raid", boot it up, accept the config change from scsi to raid, and then it worked fine !
Thank you very much,
