PowerEdge 2900 (and 2950) with PERC 5i - expand Raid 5

Hi,

I have a Dell Server (PowerEdge 2900) with a PERC 5i Raid Controller (with BBWC)  and 4 SATA Disks installed (one virtual disk Raid 5, Windows 2008).

Now I got an additional Disk Drive (same capacity, same speed) and installed it in the server.

I tried to expand the existing virtual disk (and disk group) with the new physical disk drive in the controller bios and in openmanage server administrator (managed node) running on windows.

But it's not possible to do with this Raid Cntrl?!

Is there a way to accomplish this without data loss and keeping redundancy by raid 5?

The same procedure I need to do on a PE2950 (PERC5i)

Thank you and best regards,

Run the OMSA installation again (C:\Openmanage\windows\setup.exe) and choose Custom and make sure that Storage Management (and all sub-features) is checked to be installed.  If it already is installed, you likely need to update your system firmware (BIOS, ESM/BMC, RAID) for Storage Management to pick up the storage devices.

Now I can login by doing what you said !!  But when logged in I can not see Storage, PERC. I can only see System on the left side and Health Summary, asset information etc on top bar.  Where do I find Storage Management?

Kind Regards

Just like many things in Windows (like Remote Desktop),  you cannot have a blank password to login to OMSA.  Create a password for Administrator, then log in.
