That part number comes up as a SAS 6/ir that does not support RAID 10 as you said. That leaves us with the H700 that does support RAID 10. The H700 is the new upgraded version of the PERC 6.
The H700 should plug into the Integrated slot on the server the same as the previous card you had installed. The error that you are getting could be a result of the controller card not seated properly in the slot. Since the same slot works with another card then it is pretty much isolated to the H700 card. If plugging the H700 card in the slot again making sure it is seated properly does not resolve it would point to the card as have a physical malfunction.
PERC H700 (R598N) is a modular card built for a blade chassis. That would explain the issues that you are having. You will need to return and order a PERC H700 Integrated (HCR2Y).
Both of the above cards are PCIe x8. The R410 can be purchased with a backplane where the hard drives are hot pluggable. Or with a direct cable plugged hard drive connection. Both have SAS cables in different forms connecting to the different devices.
I have the one with hot pluggable backplane and the cables connect to the Riser Card and not to any Raid Controller. The PERC6 I have i just plugged in the PCI-E with no cables attached to it as the cables are connected directly to the riser card.
Sorry for the delayed response. You will need an additional cable part # 69V70 that is a data cable from the PERC 6i to the backplane of the server. The PERC 6i is built on the older technology that does not have the Mini SAS connections.
Then just to make it clear for me : which PERC 6/i do I need as you posted two. If I get a Perc6/i I have to order the additonal cable. right. Is there any chance for my actual configuration just to put in a h700 or h200 (with Raid10) support with no need for an additional cable ? I can also provide a Service Tag of the Server if that would help(Pro support must be till end of 2012)

Not knowing for certain what cables you have. You will need data cables from the back plane to the RAID controller card.
Part # HCR2Y - H700 RAID controller card would use Cable part # N262J
HDD Cable; PERC H200/H700 Card to B/P (Mini SAS to Mini SAS)
--------------------------------------
PERC 6i card would use Part # 69V70 Cable, PERC 6i/SAS 5/6i to 6G Backplane cable

The PERC 6 does support a RAID 10. Here is a link to the User Guide on page 21 it shows the supported RAID levels.

Thank you very much but please confirm that the PERC H700 (R598N) is compatible with the R410 as it sits properly in the slot. Kind Regards Christian

When I look at the picture of the HCR2Y i dont think that will fit. As my SAS cables go on the Riser Card...
Is there any modular or integrated Perc6 with Raid 10 support I can use ?
Thx

1J8JJ -- PERCH700A 1GB Controller Card
HCR2Y -- PERCH700-i, 1GB Controller Card
1THG8 -- Controller Card, 512M, PERC-H700-A
CNXVV -- Controller Card, 512M, PERC-H700-I
Are all listed under the R410 server parts list. Do you have the original cabling set up on the server?
A PERC 6i is also compatible with the server and would support the RAID 10 that you are wanting to set up.
