Thanks for the reply.  The SATA setting is currently set to RAID Mode.  I'm going to try the drivers you linked.  I've extracted the files, I'm not sure when/where to install them though.  Is it during Windows installation?

I loaded the drivers during Windows installation (there was 1 for Configuration Device, and another for Controller).  I installed both of those, refreshed the drive list, and the HDD are still unavailable to select.

I'm installing the OS from a flash drive if that makes any difference. Could I be missing something by chance?

I am unable to view the drives in the RAID controller utility :(

All it shows is the CD/DVD drive.  I'm pretty sure the drives are seated properly.  I'm using Dell caddies and the front server display doesn't show any missing device error.  Could all 8 drives be bad you think?  Seems unlikely...

I was doing some more research and came across this thread from a while ago:

I'm in the same boat as the user in that thread in regards to the cables from the backplane to the MB.  I'm assuming I'm out of luck if that's the case?  Also he mentions only SATA drives will work is that the case?

Hello, Hello, I have a Dell r810 and one of the physical drives will not show up in the RAID utility.  No matter which SSD I put into the same bay, it will not light up, but all SSD's light up in any other bay.  I have changed the backplane & it did not correct the issue.   I am running the latest BIOS version & PERC version.  When I go into the BIOS, for Embedded SATA when I click to change it, it only gives the option for “Off” or “ATA”  I do not see RAID as an option.  I've tried everything I could find online.  These are new SSD drives.
