PowerEdge Server 4400 - STOP: 0x0000007B Inaccessible Boot Device

I have Dell PowerEdge Server 4400 with Dell Raid Controller PERC 3/Di. I went through Dell Diagnostic Utility and scanned scsi hard drives but i couldn't find anything wrong with hard drives. How can i resolve inaccessible boot device problem in my windows 2000 server?

Thank You,

What preceded this?

You opted to run diagnostic. Did you get some kind of error, or were the drives moved from another server or so?

I didn't get any error message during the scanned hard drives and I haven't moved any hard drives from another servers. There are total 3 hard drives in Raid 5.

Here is actual problem. When I boot my server, it goes well upto the load all the devices like Raid controller 3/Di and build scsi successfully and other devices. when It is starting load windows 2000 operating system and gives me error message "STOP: 0X0000007B (0X88F97570,0XC0000032,0X00000000,0X000000000)".

Thank You,

But what happened?

Did you just have a regular reboot and that's when you ran into this? Did you maybe update the driver or firmware of the PERC and you ran into it at that time? Or did you do some kind of updates in Windows or install some application or so?

You can try a last known good, but if a firmware update or so was done, you may need to downgrade the firmware again.

I haven't updated firmware or BOIS or anything on server. It was hang up thrice time due to Raid controller Battery recondition. I had power on server manually every time and fourth time it went to blue screen STOP error during load the windows.

It say "Inaccessible Boot Device". I already tried to boot last known good but it didn't help me. I tried most of the options but it is still giving me same error message.

Is there anyway to boot normal from this blue screen error?

Since last known good failed.....

This is what I would do.

Reset all cables, raid interface, all drives

Remove the mobo battery for a short time, to reset possible IRQ conflict. Document the bios settings beforehand.

Failing the above. Disconnect all device from mobo aside from video, keyboard mouse, try to boot.

Failing the above, swap out video card, if you have a compatible..try reboot.

Failing the above, the next step,  an "over the top" repair install (NOT a full install), which would require hitting F6 to install the raid driver . The repair install will check the disks, replace the raid driver, replace other drivers, replace corrupt files if any.

If you get it going, update the firmwares/drivers on the machine.

If the above does not work....

Pray

Start looking for a hardware failure. You have my sympathy

Hello,

I have fixed this problem.

I downloaded raid controller PERC 3/Di driver from the Dell website and loaded with Floppy media. I boot server with windows 2000 bootable CD and Press F6 to install driver for raid controller from floppy. I went to the repair mode and fix the boot sector and CHKDSK for drives.
