PowerEdge T110 II PERC S100 and Openmanage - Changing Raid Config
Hello,
I have a Dell PowerEdge T110 II with PERC S100: Driver Version 1.0.1-0021
I have 4 drives in a RAID 5 array and would like to change that to a 2 drive Raid 1 array.
I loaded Open Manage on the system and I see that in the RAID section I can execute "Unassign Global Hot Spare" on Drive 0 and 1.
Is changing the Array to a RAID 1 mirrored 2 drive set as simple as unassigning drive 0 and 1?
I notice that I get a drive warning on the Raid firmware:
Driver Version 1.0.1-0021
Minimum Required Driver Version 2.0.0-0162
Storport Driver Version 6.0.6002.18005
Should I upgrade that Driver to 2.0.0-0162 prior to this process?
I am running SBS Server 2008 R2 on that system but it is not operating as a DC, and is only handling file services. In fact after I change the raid I intend to reload the system with Windows Server 2008 R2 (sans SBS).
I am doing this all so that I can add to 2TB disks to the system and run virtual machines on those new disks.
Thoughts?
TIA
Sean

If you have 4 drives and two are showing as hot-spares, then you don't have a RAID 5.
You should always keep your system firmware and drivers up to date.
Might want to make sure your processor supports VT ... a few of the low-end options for this server didn't.

Not to be ungrateful but none of this answered my question.
It is in a RAID 5 array, I may have misunderstood the Open Manage interface in that it may be that two drives are available to unassign as a hot spare, but once you unassign one the other will no longer be a hot spare.
But the bigger question is how can I change the Array to A Raid 1 array?

Thank you much. That helps. I will just backup, create a RAID 1 array and do a fresh windows install.
Thanks again.
