With the T310, with SATA, technically the 6TB drive hasn't been tested, but there isn't a current limitation. Currently the largest we offer for the T310 is a 4TB drive. I would say that it should work, but remember that with certain OS's, there is a 2TB limitation.
I'm looking to replace my hard drives, I have the PRINTED WIRING ASSY, CONTROLLER, PERIPHERAL COMPONENT INTERCONNECT EXPRESS , SERIAL ATTACHED SCSI, PERC6/I, ADAPTER and 4 hard drives connected to it, I'd like to install 4 x 6Tb HDD and using the Raid controller mirror 2 drives, giving me a total of 12Tb storage mirrored on the other two drives. The operating system is SBS2011.
Are you saying that because of the OS? It is Server 2008 R2 so it supports larger with GPT. The guy in the second post says they offer a 4TB for this server. Is that not accurate?

No. Windows can't use a disk larger than 2TB unless it is converted to GPT. Windows cannot boot a GPT disk unless installed in a UEFI enabled system.

Yes, you can use drives larger than 2TB in this server, BUT you have to have the right controller. The PERC 6 is supported in this server but is an older model. You need the H700 to use drives larger than 2TB.
Chris, I know this is an old thread but I am in a similar situation - I need to upgrade the disks in my T310 server. You mentioned that Dell offers larger (2TB, 4TB) HDDs for the T310 but I have not been able to find anything but the original equipment 1TB drives on the Dell site. First I want to ask if my configuration would support larger drives and then could you supply a link to those drives? Here is my config:

2TB is the hard maximum disk size for the PERC 6/i.

Just don't use desktop or NAS drives in servers.
