Questions on r730xd Storage Upgrade ?
Hi,
I have a Dell R730xd with PERC H730P Mini (Embedded), 2GB Cache, and 12Gbps transmission speed with SAS+SATA interface, and I'm looking to upgrade. I called dell to know the maximum storage capacity of the storage server, they said its 64TB. The server has 8 disk slots, 4x1.2TB HDD already occupied, I'm looking to add more HDD and SSD.
The server was purchased used, and the company bought from says the max capacity I can use is 4x1.2TB, while Dell says different.
In this case my questions are :
1- Is there a limitation to max capacity per slot ?, if yes, how to know it ? (The reason for this question is I'm planning to add 8TB of SSD, and 16TB of HDD, and I cannot take chances). I checked dell with the Serial Tag and it shows part numbers that I cannot understand, plus not sure where to look for those part numbers).
2- Where can I find Dell-Certified Enterprise disks ?
3 - How can I know which brand of disks to add (to avoid warnings), the existing HDD disk model is Seagate ST1200MM0007 which limited to 1.2TB capacity only (which makes me believe the seller has these disks only and thence his response).
Thank You
