RAID Virtual Disk not showing in ESXi 6.5

Hi,

I have just installed a new Dell PowerEdge R640 with vmWare ESXi 6.5 installed. I have 2 RAID disks. 2x 600GB SAS in RAID 1 and 2x 2TB SAS in RAID1, ESXi is installed on the 600GB disk. I am now trying to add a datastore to the 2nd RAID disk but it will not show in vmWare at all. I have tried recreating the VD multiple times with different options but nothing has work.

Any help help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advanced,

Andrew

Are the drives in question 4kn drives maybe? If so, you'll never get them to work with VMware 6.5.

Here is some info about 4kn drives and VMware's current support status on those drives: https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2091600

Temples1990,

With the R640 supporting ESXi 6.5, I too would want to look at the specific drives used as well. Would you confirm the part numbers for the drives, or private message me the svc tag if the server was shipped with them? This way we can confirm compatibility.

Thank you.
