RAID controller for PowerEdge 1950

Hello

I have been advised that the raid controller on our PowerEdge 1950 has failed.  I know the RAID controller is Model UCS-51 but apparantly there are three difference variants.

How can I find out which variant I need?

SAS5i, SAS5iR or Perc5?

Thanks

Nick

I'd suggest typing in your serial number of the server here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/ click system config tab, then use the components drop down list. There you should see your card and it's part number in the list that was originally installed in the system.

The part will be listed like "printed circuit card assy...... "

Then you can google that part number.

What is the issue that has led you to believe the controller has failed?  If it has not failed completely, you will get a prompt to enter the controller's setup utility during POST:

CTRL-C will be the SAS 5

CTRL-R will be the PERC 5

The screen should also tell you which one it is at the prompt.
