RAID migration (0 to 1)
Hi.
(R710; PERC6/i)
I have an array with only 1 physical disk (ST2000DM001, 1 TB) in RAID0.
I added a new disk (ST32000644NS, 1TB) and I want to migrate to RAID1 without losing data.
If I'm not mistaken, I should use OMSA and reconfigure my RAID0 array by adding the new disk and changing it to RAID1.
Is that safe? Will this migration keep the original data from ST2000DM001 and mirror it on ST32000644NS?
Is there a serious problem when using a different model? I plan to change the first disk later to another ST32000644NS drive after the migration is successful.

Hello MBV21,
You are correct you can reconfigure a RAID0 to a RAID1 by adding a hard drive. It is safe but always recommended you make sure you have a validated good backup. The reconfigure operation will retain all your data.
Another best practice recommendation is to make sure you Storage chain is up to date on drivers and firmware.
Please see Page 137 - To Reconfigure A Virtual Disk in User guide

Please let me know how it goes.

Worked as expected.
Thank you.
Can I just replace the older ST2000DM001 drive with a new ST32000644NS and the server will automatically rebuild the mirror?

Hello MBV21,
Yes you should be able to replace those just fine with that drive.
Both are 2TB SATA drives.
