Unfortunately the Adaptec AIC-7899 embedded on the motherboard is not a raid controller. The PowerEdge 1550 is validated with the Perc 3/sc and 3/dc (single channel and dual channel) controllers.

340-2549 Perc 3/dc, 128Mb cache, battery backup
340-2879 Perc 3/sc, 32mb cache

The embedded SCSI devices are updated with application of the latest System BIOS and (if applicable) ESM Firmware and ERA Firmware.

   Do you know where I can get updates for the AIC-7899?  If any are available, that is, for ESM or embedded utilities.

Any ideas?  I've searched around both Adaptec and Dell...

Which system do you have? We have several which use the AIC-7899. Just in case you have the PowerEdge 1550 as in the previous posts, these are the downloads you need:

Dell Server System BIOS, PowerEdge 1550

ESM Firmware, PowerEdge 1550

Sorry, that's what I meant to say...the system bios.  I have build 25307, which I'm sure is ancient.  I'm assuming Dell has updates for it, I'm just not sure where they are.  I've looked around but can't seem to find it.  Any ideas to shorten my search?
