Could I for say use regular Samsung 860 EVO drives? The only one I have working is the 750 EVO but that drive costs around $100 on amazon for 120Gb.
The server is up to date, just installed the latest BIOS as well as the H700 being up to date.
Is there any way to sort through a list of the SSD's that would work with the server to make it faster? its easy to look at all the drives on Amazon, but it surely would be faster to just see what works and pick one.
The EVO line wasn't validated with the server platform. For that reason, I can't tell you that it will work. We don't maintain anything I could compare to a blacklist, so I can't tell you it won't work, either. I can say, however, that I've spoken to a handful of admins on the phone and we weren't able to get their EVOs working. Your experience may differ, but I'd still temper your expectations. For what it's worth, I ran an unsupported storage config in my server for years and never had an issue. The EVO may work fine, but we wouldn't be able to offer definitive knowledge in either direction.
Really, I mean any SSD that the community is willing to back other than the obvious Dell OEM or Intel. Thanks for the info though, I know it’s hard to say what will and won’t since it’s like opening a pack of playing cards, you just don’t know.

CMOS_Battery1,
While there are some Samsung drves, there are not any Kingston or Samsung Pro drives compatible in the R610.
Before installing drives I would make sure the server is up to date as well.
Let me know if this helps.
