Setup RAID 0 for single disk when current RAID array exists
All,
I am trying to expand storage for a PowerEdge 9250 which is running out of space.
The current machine is setup as a RAID 0 with two 128GB SAS drives.
What I'm trying to do is add a third disk as an individual/stand-alone drive and I read that this can be done by adding an individual drive as a RAID 0.
But I am stuck.
I have added the OpenManage software and I can see the disk, make it blink, etc.
But I cannot see where to build the RAID 0 for the newly inserted disk. Is this done via the RAID tool from boot?
Any advice on this would be tremendously helpful.
Thanks,
JBH

You can do it from the CTRL-R utility during POST, or you can do it in OMSA ... under Storage, click on PERC 5, Information/Configuration (link at top of page), then select Create/New from the dropdown menu of Available Tasks for the controller (you can also access it by going to the Virtual Disks screen and clicking on the new VD wizard link).

Very cool...but I think this older machine is not setup properly as my drop down doesn't contain the "Create New" selection:
I see that the firmware needs to be updated but is this stopping my ability to create the RAID 0 for my single disk?
Thanks,
