BROADCOM 10GbE 2P 57810S-k Mezzanine card on Poweredge M620

Hi,

I have a problem with new mezzanine cards BROADCOM 10GbE 2P 57810S-k.

they wont work on 10g speed they only work on 1g.

I have updated the firmware to first 7.2.14 and then to 7.2.20, but still nothing.

The operating systems are Oracle Linux 6.3 on one server and Opensuse 12.1 on the other server.

I have tried the Opensuse 12.2 also and different Kernels on all linux-es.

I even tried forcing it on 10g:

In Linux I tried the following

ethtool -s p3p1 speed 10000 duplex full autoneg off

ethtool -s p3p1 speed 10000 duplex full autoneg off

on switches I tried:

console(config-if-Te1/0/9)#speed 10000

Auto-negotiation has been disabled. Auto-negotiation should be enabled for

copper ports at any speed and is required for copper ports running at 1G or

higher speeds per IEEE 802.3.Auto-negotiation must be disabled on fiber

ports.

Fiber ports must be configured for full duplex.

After that ssh was stopped and I couldn`t ping the server anymore.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Marko.

Hi,

We resolved the issue for the client with changing the mezzanine cards with the ones that do work: Broadcom M57711, and we changed them in 5 or 6 servers.

Marko,

What IOM do you have it connected to, as well as what IOM is in Fabric A?

Also what midplane do you have in the enclosure? In the CMC under Chassis Overview - Summary will list midplane version.

Is this in B or C?

Let me know what you find out.

Hi

Has there been any progress on this. We are having the same issue having just installed some M620 servers into a chassis that has M610 working at 10Gb. We have M8024s in slots B and C with the same Broadcom cards in the servers as the above issue. Tested with switches in with both 4.1.1.9 and 5.0.1.3 code. Servers have been tested with both Windows 2008 and ESX 5.

Many thanks

Thanks, yes that does seem to be the answer. It is important to match the cards in the servers with the chassis and switch versions in the chassis.

hi Marco,

the system is working as designed, I have sent you an email regarding possible upgrades to be purchased.

Thanks and regards,

Dimitrii
