BSOD when upgrading RAM

We have an M910 with 64Gb RAM (16 x 4Gb), RAID 1 (2 x 100Gb SSD - 50Gb free) running Win 2008 R2 Enterprise. When I change the memory to 16 x 16Gb RAM modules it shows the 256Gb in the BIOS, no errors on POST but on Windows startup splash screen we get the BSOD. When we put the original RAM back it works fine.

Anyone have any ideas please.

Hello mcstech

Just off the top of my head I would say it has to do with available space on the HDD. Check the page file settings. If it is managed by Windows then it will increase in size with more memory. Set a static page file and test. You might also look to see if full memory dumps are enabled. I doubt it would cause the issue you are experiencing, but I would have to research to be sure. I don't think the memory dump space is pre-allocated, but I could be wrong on that.

Thanks
