Compatibility of W1GCR Converged Network Adapter with PowerEdgeT320 Server

Will a W1GCR Converged Network Adapter (nic) run without issue in a PowerEdge T320 server?  The available PCIE slots are:

S1) PCIE 2.0 x4

S4) PCIE 3.0 x4

Will either or both of these slots work?  I realize that in an x4 slot, I'll only be able to run one 10Gbe link, but that is all that is required for this application.

Additionally, has anyone had success with these nics in Linux or Windows systems?

The user manual seems to indicate that these nics support automatic negotiation for 100Mb/1Gb/2.5Gb/10Gb speeds, but not 5Gb.  Is this correct?

Hi,

The server T320 does not support DPN# W1GCR.

As for installing cards on the server, here is the user guide for reference in case you need to know which slot priority does the cards to be installed in; https://dell.to/3su1HHq

As for successfully install the card in the OS, you probably need drivers for the OS to run the hardware, eg: https://dell.to/2Qs5mYX. But the card driver is not available for T320, as it does not support it.

I would say, the card auto negotiate speed only to 10Mbps, 100Mbps, 1000Mbps, or 10Gbps base on the user guide page 1 https://dell.to/3dmidoo

Could you confirm the above?  These two Dell web pages both appear to indicate that the T320 is compatible with the Broadcom 57810 chipset:

https://www.dell.com/en-my/work/shop/qlogic-57810-network-adapter/apd/540-bbdx/networking

https://m.dell.com/mt/accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=th&l=en&s=bsd&cs=thbsd1&mfgpid=6065236&category_id=7398&sort=price&p=1&un_jtt_v_policy=1

It would seem that if the T320 is compatible with this chipset it should also work with the W1GCR.  Thanks for your help.

Rsbonini,

The 57810 is mentioned in the guide for the T320, so it should work, but I'll tell you that that system went End of Life around 2016... so information is going to be scarce, especially if the card wasn't out when the server was designed. So based on that I would try it.

Let me know how it goes.
