Dell PowerEdge R510 Memory Upgrade
Hi members,
I would like to upgrade my company PowerEdge R510 server memory.
Our current memory configuration:
- DIMM_A1: 8GB 4Rx8 RDIMM (M393B1K73CHD-YF8)
- DIMM_A2: 8GB 4Rx8 RDIMM (M393B1K73CHD-YF8)
- DIMM_A3: (empty)
- DIMM_A4: (empty)
- DIMM_B1: 8GB 4Rx8 RDIMM (M393B1K73CHD-YF8)
- DIMM_B2: 8GB 4Rx8 RDIMM (M393B1K73CHD-YF8)
- DIMM_B3: (empty)
- DIMM_B4: (empty)
is it possible to upgrade to the following configuration?:
- DIMM_A1: 8GB 4Rx8 RDIMM (M393B1K73CHD-YF8)
- DIMM_A2: 8GB 4Rx8 RDIMM (M393B1K73CHD-YF8)
- DIMM_A3: 16GB RDIM
- DIMM_A4: 16GB RDIM
- DIMM_B1: 8GB 4Rx8 RDIMM (M393B1K73CHD-YF8)
- DIMM_B2: 8GB 4Rx8 RDIMM (M393B1K73CHD-YF8)
- DIMM_B3: 16GB RDIM
- DIMM_B4: 16GB RDIM
If not, may I know what is the maximum size that I can upgrade on the empty slots?
Thanks!
Kim

Hello.
It is something you can try but it may give you errors related to non-optimal memory configuration during boot. I would suggest that you populate slots A1 &A4 and B1 &B4 with 16 GB. See this other thread for more information: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/956/t/19993067
