Dell Poweredge T430 fans running at 1800RPM

Hi,

I recently bought a dell poweredge T430, it was stock with 1 x 1tb harddisk, raidcontroller, 8gb memory and 1cpu. i upgraded the tower by adding the following parts:

3x 1tb harddisk

1x 2 port intel pro/1000 network card

and a single 32gb memory module.

running esxi 6.0

first it was a nice and quite tower but now it's running it's fans at a minimum of 1800RPM this is producing around 47DB. is there a way to recude the fan speed to fan speed before i upgraded my system? it's using under 100W.

what i did:

I changed the iDRAC fan settings to low.

what i didn't do:

upgrade bios

upgrade iDRAC

it would be great if there is anyone who can help me out with this.

i hope there is anyone who can help me.

If it was quiet at first, then something has changed. Have you added ANY hardware to it since receiving it? The fans are controlled by the iDRAC, so I would certainly update that and the BIOS, particularly if nothing has changed hardware-wise (and because it is just good practice).

ok i found the problem

i updated the idrac and bios to most recent version(didn't resolve the problem)

removed the intel pro 1000 card from the system and it's back to the normal 1320 rpm again.

does anyone know a network card that doesn't increase the rpm of the fans by adding it?

i kinda need the extra 2 network connections.

The Pro 1000 is old and designed for desktops (I believe).

Try one of these (from the configuration page) - these are the validated network cards, so the system will know their requirements and may not kick up the fans for unknown hardware, but it is possible it will still kick them up a bit (more likely with quads than duals):

Broadcom 5719 QP 1Gb Network Interface Card [$143.17]
Broadcom 5720 DP 1Gb Network Interface Card [$90.87]
Intel Ethernet I350 DP 1Gb Server Adapter [$117.02]
Intel Ethernet I350 QP 1Gb Server Adapter [$260.85]
