Dell r720 - Power use
Hi Everyone,
We have two cabinets located in a 3rd party datacentre which are currently contracted for 3.6kW of power each. The current consumption is as follows…
CAB1 – 2.2 kW in use (1.4Kw Free)
CAB2 – 2.5 kW in use (1.1Kw Free)
We are just about to place an order for the following...
4 x Dell r720 2 RU servers, Dual Hex Core CPU's, 128GB RAM, Dual Single Port FC HBA's, additional quad port ethernet NIC
128GB Memory (8x16GB), 1333MHz, Dual Ranked LV RDIMMs
2 x logic (QLE2560) 8Gbps PCI-E FC HBA - Single Port
DVD ROM, SATA, Internal for Ms 2008 R2
High Output Power Supply, Redundant, 870W
2 x 5M, Multi-Mode, LC-LC, Fibre Cables
2 x 1x Jumper Cord, C13/C14, 250V, 4M
1 x additonal quad port ethernet GB card
iDRAC6 Enterprise
2GB SD Card, for UIPS
Factory Install for VMware vSphere 5
3Yr ProSupport: (7x24) 4-hour Onsite Service
Can you please let me know the power requirements for the 4 Dell servers? Are we going to have power issues?
I have tried to use the datacentre planning tool but the r720 servers are not listed...
Thanks,
Stuart.

Hello Stuart
The Energy Smart Solution Advisor is the newer tool that contains 11th and 12th generation servers. The DCCP stopped with 10th generation. Here is the page for both:
That should help you get all of the information you are looking for.
Thanks
