GPU performance on Dell M620 Blades

Hello,

We have 8 x Dell M620 Blades in a M1000E chassis (think that is right).  We have VMware as the hypervisor for these 8 hosts.

We have Citrix XenApp running on them and generally performance to the users desktops is good, however if they do anything graphical such as running YouTube videos or google maps in their desktop sessions the CPU on the Windows 2012 R2 server they are on hits the roof.

It seems the CPU to me is having to do all the rendering in software mode instead of using a dedicated GPU as I don't believe these blades have these.

Citrix XenApp likes to offload graphics to the local GPU.

Anyone else having a similar problem?  Maybe my synopsis is not correct.

Hi,

The M620 has a Matrox G200 with 16MB of memory. It is just enough for console access to the system and is not designed for hardware accelerated graphics

So that would explain the high CPU as it has to do the software rendering?

What upgrade options do we have?  I don't think those blades can handle GPUs so which blade can?

Or do we use Nvidia GRID or a Dell 730.
