High fan RPMs after CPU upgrade

I have a Dell PowerEdge R720 with 192GB ram and a two 2.6GHz 8 core processors in it.  Just the other day I upgraded the two CPUs with 2 10 core 3.0Ghz CPUs. (E5-2690 v2).  All is working just fine with the server except the fan speeds are running over 12K RPMs now and the server is very loud.  Does anyone have any idea what I can do to lower the fan speed I do not want to go back to the old CPUs if I don't have two?

Thanks

Steven

I can not think of any other way to lower the fan RPM. 7200 RPM should be normal for that processor.

Hello.

The fan response with higher RPMs is normal and the server is working as designed when certain processors including E5-2690 v2 are installed. The increase in fan RPM is required to ensure the long term reliability of these processors when you have C1E disabled in the system BIOS. Note that when the C1E disable feature is not needed, use the Custom profile and enable C1E.

I made the change as you suggested I got the fan speed from 12K to around 7200 rpm is that the best that I can do or do you have a combination of things to try?

Thanks

Ok I can live with that. The system is running super fast and is stable which makes it all worth it.
