Historical Info on DELL 2950 II
Hey Community,
Doing some research on purchasing a refurbished server and wanted to know if someone could give me a little history lesson on the DELL 2950 II. I know you guys have the answers!
Here are the specs I'm looking at:
2 X Quad core Intel XEON 5320 Processors
8GB ECC Memory
Perc RAID Controller
Dual 146GB Mirrored high speed SAS (15K)
6 Hot-swap drive bays (3 empty)
CD/DVD Drive
Dual power supplies
And I need to know:
What years was this manufactured?
What was the price new?
When was the last time DELL offered this unit as refurbished on their site?
What would a respectable refurbished price be at the beginning of 2016?
What would a respectable refurbished price be at the end of 2016 (today)?

What years was this manufactured? Probably for a year between sometime in 2007 to sometime in 2008.
What was the price new? Probably starting at $1300, maybe $5000 with the config you included.
When was the last time DELL offered this unit as refurbished on their site? Probably 2008-2009 - maybge up to 6 months after the III was released.
What would a respectable refurbished price be at the beginning of 2016? $1000-1500, truly refurbished (cleaned, tested, updated, etc.), up to maybe $2000 with some refurbisher-provided warranty. $400-700 as "used".
What would a respectable refurbished price be at the end of 2016 (today)? Same. It is too old for one year to affect the price much.
