Memory upgrade PowerEdge T310 Xeon X3430

I have 4 slots occupied of 6 available, all with the same Samsung 2GB 1R8 PC3-10600E-9-10-D0

or part number M391B5773CH0-CH9.

I tried to install the last 2 and system did not post or boot. Shouldn't this system be able to use all slots with this ram?

Hello,

That memory appears to be unbuffered. Looking at the documentation of the server, it will support 2 UDIMMs per channel, compared to 3 per channel with RDIMMs (buffered memory). The server only has 2 channels, A and B. WIth that in mind, you'll need to use RDIMMs, if you want to fully populate the system.

Ok in that case would these work to get it to 16 GB?

Micron Server RAM 16GB 4x 4GB PC3-10600R ECC REG DDR3 1333 2Rx4 RDIMM

And thanks for the fast reply, appreciate it much.

It looks like those would probably work. Here are some descriptors for DIMMs we have:

4GB, DIMM, 1333MHZ, 512x72, Registered, DDR3, 240 Pin, Dual Rank, 1.5V, Error Correction Code

4GB, DIMM, 1333MHZ, 512x72, Registered, DDR3, 240 Pin, Dual Rank, 1.35V, Error Correction Code

Those look like the same specs you posted, so I don't see why they wouldn't work. Some of our part numbers are NN876 and T6KGP.
