PE 620 MT09V Network Daughter upgrade -> Unknown PCI device

Dear All,

We have some Dell PE 620 server.
We make upgrade on the servers ( HDD->SSD), and reinstall.

After windows 2016 install, upgrade, we make firmware upgrades on first server.
BIOS, iDRAC, RAID Card.
And we make last firmware upgrade on Network Daughter Card (MT09V Broadcom 57800S Quad Port 2x 10GbE SFP + 2x 1GbE Card).
We download firmware upgrade software from dell support site:

Dell Qlogic firmware DUPs for Qlogic BCM57xxx series of adapters
Importance: Recommended
Version: 14.07.06 ,A00-00 Older versions
Release Date: 28 Aug 2018
File Name: Network_Firmware_7H96X_WN64_14.07.06_A00-00_02.EXE
File size: 7.04 MB

Upgrade is finished without errors. After upgrade we rebooted the server.

After reboot, server have many errors on start:pe620_1.jpg

Server and BIOS don't show the network card.

I think network card firmware is bad or upgrade is faulted.

We removed all other card, if possible (expansion cards, RAID card), but error is still there.

I think we don't made a mistake!, but server is not working.

What shall we do ?

I know this is going to sound strange, but try downgrading the bios to a previous version, or even try rolling back the bios using the lifecycle controller (F10 at bootup). After bios is rolled back to previous version, reboot, and try to flash the MT09V again using the same Version: 14.07.06. Let us know the results.

Thx you reply!

In the lifecycle controller, only one rollback available:

iDRAC :(

If i restore it previous iDRAC, nothing changes.
The lifecycle controller can't see the network daughter card.

I think network daughter firmware is not started, so can't update or restore it :(

I put it another network daughter card to the server, this card is working without error.

I may had found the issue. We have two build types of the r620. One has three expansion card slots and one has two expansion card slots.

When I moved the daughter card from one to the other, I saw the same error you got.

When I moved the daughter card back, the error went away and the system booted without any **bleep** on the screen complaining about missing PCI devices.

The daughter cards look about that same, however one has a metal guard near the front of it, while the other one does not. The guard is for the three PCI card server, and the one without the metal guard (or guide) is missing.

So, even though these daughter cards look the same, one will work and one will not.

Hope this helps.

Eric
