PE SC1425 CPU Upgrade
I have a PowerEdge SC1425 with a single Intel Xeon 2.8Ghz CPU installed. I'd like to upgrade it to a dual CPU rig. I understand from doing some reading and research that the Irwindale core 3.8Ghz Xeon is the fastest CPU chip this motherboard can support (please verify if possible).
If I purchase a pair of SL7ZB or SL8P2 Irwindale 3.8Ghz Xeon's can I just place them in the CPU sockets, bolt on the heatsinks and go?
TIA

The only recommendation I have is to update the bios to the latest before putting in a new processor to give it the best chance that the bios will accept the new processor(s).
You may also need a Dell heatsink and fan for the 2nd processor.
