POWEREDGE R210 | AFTER A FEW MINUTES AUTOMATICALY POWER OFF

Dear,

I have a R210 with a linux OS (centos), using it as a Firewall server.
After a few problems with energy in the building, the server after a few minutes goes off automatically.

I've norticed that the FANS (3 units) dont start at all, Is that normal?
Some i can do?

Hello jeffreytresa,

That is not normal especially if you have, the lid removed and power on, the fans should run high.

Try reseating the fan connections.

Was anything done inside the system before this started?

See if you can get a look at the System Event log for any issues:

press <ctrl-E>, in POST, when the iDRAC  is posting > System Event Log

Are there any amber lights on?

You may need to bring it down to minimum-to-post configuration for troubleshooting.

The minimum components to allow the PowerEdge R210 to complete POST are:

*System Board

*Processor with Heatsink

*1 DIMM in slot 1

*Riser Card

*Power Supply

*Control Panel and Cables

Remove anything not on that list: DVD, Hard drives, PERC controller, backplane, network card, NIC cable, any pcie cards, keyboard, mouse, USB devices, ….  anything not on the list remove.

Try with the fans connected and without. When testing without fans have an external fan blowing and only a short amount of time.

If it does not post then the issue is with one of those components.

If you get successful POST, put things back a little at a time until you find the faulting component.

This looks like a system board issue. Board might have damaged during power issue. Is iDRAC is accessible. can you check any details on iDRAC related to this failure

Thanks,

Hello jeffreytresa,

It looks like you may have iDRAC6 Enterprise port on the rear with the wrench icon

iDRAC 6 - System Setup during POST

1. Restart the host, hit ctrl + e to go into iDRAC 6 Configuration Utility

2. Use arrow keys to select LAN Parameters

3. Select the NIC Mode:

a. Dedicated

4. Configure LAN parameters using DHCP or Static IP

5. Save and Exit
