PowerEdge 2950 E1810 HDD 4 Fault; PowerEdge 2950 E1810 HDD 2 Fault

I have just noticed that the amber light on the Master and Slave server of our VOIP network are both flicking. On the small display screen on the server this message appears:

Master: PowerEdge 2950 E1810 HDD 4 Fault

Slave: PowerEdge 2950 E1810 HDD 2 Fault

The problem initially started with only the slave server having the amber light on. I was told by our VoIP software support engineers that a failed disk needs to be replaced with a new one. After a few days, I noticed that the master server has the amber light on as well. So now both master and slave have this problem.

Could someone help me fix this problem. Really need to do this urgently before bigger problems arises. Thanks.

I would make sure you have a good backup plan in place, then update the system (BIOS, ESM, DRAC, PERC) firmware and drive firmware, then test the drives for any additional failing disks.  Particularly if they are fairly old 2950's and have never had their firmware updated, there is a good chance that bugs in the firmware causing drives to fail unnecessarily have been fixed in recent versions.
