PowerEdge 800 with LSI Logic LSI22320 will hang up with 2 or more LUNs

PowerEdge 800 with LSI Logic LSI22320 (SCSI HBA, Ultra320) will hang up with 2 or more LUNs. It will hang on after LSI BIOS scanning SCSI bus devices and listing disk information. The last message is

"LSI Logic Corp. MPT boot ROM sucessfully install".

  1. Create 2xUDVs (any RAID level), attach LUN to them --> It means to create 2 volumes and assign SCSI LUN to them.
  2. Boot PowerEdge 800.
  3. It will scan SCSI bus and shows 2 devices.
  4. After that it shows "LSI Logic Corp. MPT boot ROM sucessfully install". and system hangs on.

PowerEdge 800 + LSI22320 + 2 Ultra320 HDDs (Seagate) --> hangs.

PowerEdge 800 + Adaptec 39320A + 2 Ultra320 HDDs (Seagate) --> OK. (Pass and continue booting)

PowerEdge 800 + Adaptec 39320A + RAID subsystem with 2 or more LUNs --> OK.

Other servers (like ASUS or Supermicro) + LSI22320 + 2 Ultra320 HDDs (Seagate) --> OK.

I am not sure that PowerEdge 800 BIOS is not compatible with LSI22320? Any one can help me?

We're having the same problem, but with a PowerEdge 850 and an LSIU320 card. We also tried an Adaptec card, but it gives us "buffer I/O" errors in Linux. So for now we disabled the LSI card's BIOS boot scan.
