Hello, and thanks for responding! I do have the boot devices, but: After doing minimal boot, system didnt let me go trough this CPLD version screen. But after i swapped CPU's with eachother and put everything in, while plugging to server directly instead of iDRAC as i have been before, it booted to bios, but after restart it was stuck in the same place again.
Then after leaving it on that screen for 30min and reseting then it let me go to life cycle manager, from it to boot menu. I ran diagnosctics, and that was the result:
After getting these results i tried to get into bios again, but i'm stuck at the CPLD screen (i dont think it is CPLD's fault tho)
Weird thing is, when on CPLD version screen i get the prompt to accept or deny action (f1 f2) my keyboard LED's stays on. After pressing any of the options, after a second keyboard goes dark (in both front ports, and rear ones.)
On 2 ocasions i managed to go trough, after pressing one of the options keyboard was going dark for 0.5sec and then relit again.
Hi, from what I think, this isn't a CLPD issue, I think it's maybe because you have no device to boot, actually. Can you check first if you have any devices to boot? Or you could still try to get into BIOS through minimum POST. If you really need to download CPLD, please call in or send us a email to raise an official ticket. https://dell.to/3sO0ywU
Hello, seeing your follow-up post, as I was mentioning before I think you need the CPLD. They will be happy to assist to with your official ticket. https://dell.to/3sKfsUX
We were unable to access iDRAC, but we could POST. We were spending more time on the problem than the system was worth. We sent the unit to electronic recycling. Problem solved
We'll see about that. When someone asks "how do i fix this" answering "buy a new one" is not a solution. Will wait for CLPD ticket response when its filled, and continue from there. Fix doesnt have to be worth it time-wise for me, i just wanna know *thehell is going wrong so i cant go trough, and what would be the steps to fix it if i had access to all of the gear possible to get*
@IamZim Had the keyboard errors off, but turned off the other reporting (Press F1 to Continue, Press F2 for Setup) But what makes no sense is why if you press F1 doesnt it just continue to the Boot Manager? Ridiculous. What moron designed this system? Once the reported errors were removed it went to boot manager (something it should just do if you hit F1 to continue but DOESN'T - Dell please fix this in future BIOS versions.
I don't want assume anything from posting on an old thread.
I'd like to check if you tried a flea power drain and Clear NVRAM
drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed). After flea power drain, system has to set for 3 minutes for DRAC to reset without any power plugged in, then plug in NIC and power but wait 2 minutes before power on to give DRAC time to initialize.
Clear NVRAM - there is a map under the lid to show the jumper location. Shut down, Set jumper to the Clear position, power on and Post up to the jumper error, shut down and return to original location.
Could you provide more information:
Was anything done on the server around the time this issue started? Has any hardware been added or removed?
I did do the power drain, and left the system off for over 24 hours, with nothing attached except the rails. Same issue when it started. I didn't reset the NVRAM as this was supposed to be a production system.
The system has run for years with nothing changed on it except for rebooting to patch.
Hello, at this point I'm just wondering if you have a booting device at all- it's not by you, but a screenshot earlier posted by someone else in the thread also indicates that. as well Could you go to Controller BIOS by CNTL+R to confirm?
@DELL-Young E Yeah, can get into the raid controller, all the drives are as it should be. We just pulled this from the rack No need to keep a 2U space occupied with a non-functioning system. We have a nice Proliant DL385 on the cart to replace it.
