PowerEdge T710 Memory configuration

Currently we have 4 x 1GB memory modules for this dual CPU T710 and want to upgrade to 64GB. Reading the Hardware Owner’s Manual the memory configuration can be very complex. Single-rank and dual-rank RDIMMs, Quad-rank RDIMMs, 1-GB and 2-GB UDIMMs in Optimizer, Advanced ECC or Mirroring configuration. Very confusing!
Is it possible just to replace the current four 1GB modules with four 16GB modules in the same slots using DDR3 SDRAM DIMM 240-pin 1333 MHz ( PC3-10600 ) ECC Dual rank, Low Voltage , registered modules?

Hello Everybody!

Hope y'all doing good.

@greg-of-ca.

PowerEdge T710 supports a max memory of 288GB using single and dual rank Registered ECC memory modules (RDIMMs). But will support only upto
96GB using quad rank Registered ECC memory modules (RDIMMs).
Yes, you can replace the existing memory with "four 16GB modules" as they are compatible with your system. (Dell Part #A5008568)
Please make sure that you do not mix Unbuffered ECC (UDIMMs) memory along with Registered ECC memory (RDIMMs).

You can find the detailed information about the memory for your PowerEdge system from the following link:
ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_poweredge/poweredge-t710_Owner%27s%20Manual_en-us.pdf
(Refer from Page 98 on-wards)
As suggested in the earlier posts you can find this memory in Crucial.com, Memorystock.com, Kingston and so many other sites.
Let me know if you need any more info!!

Good luck with the upgrade!!
Best Regards,

According to the original system configuration we have 4ea. G481D  Dual In-line Memory Module, 1G 1066, 1RX8X72, 8, 240, UBE

Will 4 Dell Part# : A5008568  work to replace the 4 in their existing slots?

if you look at your system' s invoice, it will show you which modules you have now, and you can add the 16G dimms to it if you get the same types. if you dont have the invoice, send me your service tag in a private message and I will reply with the systems memory config as it shipped from Dell.

This should be possible, yes. I would recommend to buy memory guaranteed compatible with your T710. Crucial, Kingston, Dell and some other companies have a wizard on their website to guide you to guaranteed compatible memory.
