Hello.

Yes, 32GB is the most RDIMM memory supported on this server. See illustration below.

You will have on Channel A:

A1 &A3 = 8GB

Channel B:

B2 &B4 = 8GB

Let me whether you have any further questions.

Looking at the documentation the above might not work because these DIMMs are 1333Hz whereas only 1066Hz is supported for Registered 8GB capacity:

7.2 DIMMs Supported

The following DIMMs are supported:

Unbuffered, DDR3 1066 1GB DIMM, Single Rank

Unbuffered, DDR3 1333 1GB DIMM, Single Rank

Unbuffered, DDR3 1066 2GB DIMM, Dual Rank

Unbuffered, DDR3 1333 2GB DIMM, Dual Rank

Unbuffered, DDR3 1066 4GB DIMM, Dual Rank

Unbuffered, DDR3 1333 4GB DIMM, Dual Rank

Registered, DDR3 1066 1GB DIMM, Single Rank

Registered, DDR3 1333 1GB DIMM, Single Rank

Registered, DDR3 1066 2GB DIMM, Dual Rank

Registered, DDR3 1333 2GB DIMM, Dual Rank

Registered, DDR3 1066 4GB DIMM, Quad Rank

Registered, DDR3 1066 8GB DIMM, Quad Rank

So, modules marked with ranks 4Rx4 or 4Rx8 PC3-8500R would work in this case unless the specs and docs have changed for newer model releases. Can you confirm your Rank and whether the PC3-10600R 8GB worked on your T310?

Unless the system automatically adjusts them from 1333Hz to 800Hz like in some cases.

Table 9. Memory Support: R-DIMM

R-DIMM DDR3 ECC

System Capacity: 32G
DIMM Speed: 1066
DIMM Capacity: 8G
# of DIMMs: x4
System Speed: 800

So 4 sticks of 8gb 2rx4 won't POST?

May 20th, 2022 14:00

So I went all in and bought 4x 8GB Kingston. KVR1066D3Q8R7S/8GI

I get the choice of 24GB Recognised if 3 sticks installed or 16GB with 4 sticks installed.  Tried reseating,  putting in different order and reseating the CPU. I am at a loss! Please help!

Hi, TehForgotten could you please tell us what issues you are facing? What is not working?

Sorry for the massive delay, I must have missed the reply notification. Only 3 of 4 sticks are recognised. So only 24 of 32gb,

4 identical sticks.

Hello The Forgotten,

I'm sorry to see you are having a memory issue.

Could you let us know the server model, BIOS firmware version and any troubleshooting you have done already?

Do the DIMMs meet the system Memory Specifications?

Initially I can recommend to check the DIMM sockets for bent pins.

Check the BIOS setting for memory mode. Likely it should be on Optimized setting.

Also try a flea power drain

drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed). After flea power drain, system has to set for 3 minutes for DRAC to reset without any power plugged in, then plug in NIC and power but wait 2 minutes before power on to give DRAC time to initialize.

Test each DIMM one at a time in A1 socket.

I shuffled the RAM I definitely have 1 dead stick. All ports read other 3 sticks. Before I buy another, can you confirm that 4x8GB Kingston KVR1066D3Q8R7S  will give me the 32GB I an seeking? BIOS V1.14.0

Hello The Forgotten,

We don't have a Dell part number for the Kingston KVR1066D3Q8R7S you have.

If the other three worked for you I don't see why getting one more would not work.

I can recommend follow the Memory guide lines in the owner's manual:

https://dell.to/46dHIkd

System Memory page 108-111

Below I provided a few 8G DIMMs for the T310. If you contact Sales they may have others they can quote you.

These are Service part numbers. You would need to call Sales and ask for the Spare Part Department to get a quote for these part numbers. They do not generally come up on the Dell web page.
